Alpine NJ Borough HallLocated in Bergen Country, Alpine NJ is a borough with a population of over 2,000 people. Alpine covers 9.2 miles of land and water, and has been recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the top two most expensive zip codes to live in the country. Alpine is a small, upscale community that features big mansions and cherishes privacy. Their town’s center is the local post office, where the residents prefer to have their mail delivered. Minimal services are offered to the residents of Alpine, so that their real estate taxes will be kept low. Although Alpine NJ is a small and secluded community, residents have easy access to three major airports and an excellent school system.

Alpine Parks & Recreation

All residents of Alpine have access to the recreation facilities, which features swimming and tennis clubs and Montammy Private Golf Club. Alpine NJ also offers many sport and activities, including baseball, softball, football, soccer, basketball, and Scouts for both boys and girls.  

Palisade International Park

Palisade Interstate Park is located in northeastern Bergen County, and features more than 100 thousand acres of parklands and historic sites. The park is maintained by the Palisades Interstate Park Commission. The park offers more than thirty miles of hiking trails, two public boat basins, a boat launching ramp, four riverfront picnic areas, a scenic riverside drive, a cliff-top Parkway with three scenic overlooks, a nature sanctuary, historic sites, and many more spectacular views and wildlife to witness.

Alpine Boat Basin

The Alpine Boat Basin is a riverfront public picnic area and also is a small private marina. There is access to fishing, a beach for car-top boat launches, hiking trails, restrooms, water, vending machines, and public phones. There is also an open picnic pavilion that is available for rental.

Alpine Scout Camp

Alpine Scout camp offers small tenting sites and a large conference center that is available for short term camping for Scouts. Alpine features a large selection of facilities, and there are events going on every weekend from September to June, such as archery, orienteering courses, and more.

Alpine Attractions

Blackledge-Kearney House

The Kearney house was built in1760 and was part of a small settlement at the base of the Palisades. Many members of this community made their living on the River as fishermen and boat pilots. Now, it is an amazing museum run by the Palisades Interstate Park.

Historical 18th Century Cornwallis House

The 18th century Cornwallis house can be found nestled under the cliffs near the Alpine Boat Basin. As a state and national landmark, it takes its name from General Charles Cornwallis, who, according to legend stopped there in 1776 while on his way to attack rebel forces in Fort Lee. The house is decorated with period furniture and is open to the public during summer weekends on a limited basis.

There is no high school in Alpine NJ and students after the 8th grade go to the Tenafly High School. The Alpine Public School, is a K-8 community school district serving a total of 142 students at the Alpine School. The district's students attend Tenafly High School in Tenafly for grades 9 - 12, as part of a sending / receiving relationship.
